Senior BI & Data Analyst

Istanbul Headquarters
Full-time
Senior Level

About This Role

About Beakwise

Beakwise is an R&D and product company building enterprise-grade software platforms for large organizations. Financial services is our primary focus today (insurance, banking, payments), and our ambition is broader: to become a trusted software and technology products vendor for large enterprises across industries.

Istanbul is our headquarters and a key delivery hub. Our platforms and transformation programs produce large amounts of operational data, and our clients increasingly ask us to help them understand it and act on it.

The opportunity

We are looking for a senior BI and data analyst who can turn complex business questions into reliable data models, clear dashboards, and practical insight. You will work directly with our Head of Data Analytics and BI.

This is not a reporting-only role. You will work with business teams, delivery teams, engineers, and client stakeholders to understand what needs to be measured, where the data lives, how it should be modeled, and how the final output should support decision-making.

You should be comfortable in enterprise data environments, especially Databricks and Power BI on the Azure data stack. We expect you to build useful analytics assets, not just attractive dashboards. That means understanding data quality, definitions, relationships, performance, refresh logic, governance, and the business context behind the numbers.

Our projects often involve multiple systems, legacy data, integration points, and business rules that are not always written down neatly. We do not need someone who only waits for perfect requirements. We need someone who can help create clarity when the data, systems, or definitions are messy.

If people already come to you when two reports disagree, when a KPI is unclear, or when someone needs to understand what is really happening behind a number, you will like this role.

This is a hybrid position based in Istanbul, with 3 days per week at the office. Part of the work needs focused analysis; part of it benefits from sitting with project teams, business analysts, engineers, and client-facing delivery leads.

Required Qualifications

What we're looking for

Must-haves

  • 3+ years in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics, or BI development roles, with hands-on ownership of business-facing dashboards, data models, and analytical outputs. Most strong candidates will have 4-8 years.
  • Power BI (must): data modeling, DAX, Power Query, report design, dashboard development, and performance optimization
  • Databricks (must): SQL, notebooks, data exploration, transformations, and structured enterprise data
  • Azure data ecosystem (must): hands-on work on Azure-based analytics platforms (Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Synapse, or Microsoft Fabric)
  • Strong SQL skills and the ability to write clean, efficient, and understandable queries
  • Good understanding of data modeling concepts, including fact tables, dimensions, relationships, aggregations, and semantic layers
  • Experience working with business stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, reporting logic, and analytical requirements
  • Ability to investigate data issues independently and explain findings clearly
  • Good documentation habits, especially around metric definitions, source systems, transformation logic, and assumptions
  • English is required (written and spoken)
  • Comfortable with a hybrid model: 3 days per week at our Istanbul office

Big plus

Any of the below is a strong advantage:

  • Industry experience in finance, automotive, or healthcare services, especially projects involving operational reporting, customer data, risk, claims, sales and service, accounting, compliance, or management dashboards
  • Regulated environments such as insurance, banking, payments, or leasing
  • Delta Lake, lakehouse and medallion architecture, or modern data platform patterns
  • Python or PySpark for data analysis and transformation
  • Enterprise system data: CRM, ERP, core insurance, policy administration, claims, accounting, dealer management, or patient services
  • Data governance, master data, data lineage, or data quality frameworks
  • Consulting or client-facing, project-based delivery
  • Turkish for client-facing work in Türkiye

What success looks like (first 90 days)

  • You take a business problem and shape it into a clear analytics requirement
  • You work independently in Databricks and Power BI to prepare, model, and visualize data
  • You catch data quality and definition issues before they become client-facing problems
  • You explain analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Business users trust your numbers: dashboards reconcile with source data, metrics are clearly defined, and models can be maintained

Key Responsibilities

What you'll do

Turn business questions into analytics that hold up

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and decision-support needs
  • Translate business questions into data requirements, metrics, definitions, and analytical outputs
  • Document metrics, assumptions, data sources, transformation logic, and known limitations

Build in Databricks and Power BI

  • Work with data in Databricks, including notebooks, SQL queries, tables, transformations, and analytical data preparation
  • Build and improve dashboards, reports, semantic models, and datasets in Power BI
  • Create reliable data models that are understandable, maintainable, and suitable for business users, with sensible performance and refresh logic

Guard the numbers

  • Investigate data quality issues, inconsistencies, missing values, and logic gaps
  • Support data validation, reconciliation, and UAT processes
  • Improve existing dashboards and reports that are slow, unclear, unreliable, or no longer aligned with business needs

Work as part of delivery

  • Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, business analysts, and project managers
  • Help clients and internal teams understand what the data says, what it does not say, and what decisions can reasonably be made from it

Tech stack (what you will touch)

  • Analytics: Power BI (DAX, Power Query, semantic models)
  • Platform: Databricks on Azure (SQL, notebooks, Delta Lake)
  • Cloud data: Azure Data Lake, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric
  • Where useful: Python and PySpark

What We Offer

What we offer

  • A core seat in our Istanbul hub, working directly with our Head of Data Analytics and BI, with real influence over how we build our analytics practice
  • Real enterprise data problems, not toy dashboards: multiple systems, large transaction volumes, regulated industries
  • A strong product and engineering organization around you
  • A hybrid rhythm that protects focus: office days for alignment, workshops, and stakeholder discussions, remote days for deep analytical work
  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and impact

How to apply

Please share:

  • Your CV/resume
  • If available, examples of dashboards, BI projects, analytical models, or data products you have worked on

You do not need to share confidential client material. A short explanation of the business problem, your role, the tools used, and the outcome is enough.

Please apply directly through our careers page. The application form is short, and it helps us review every candidate consistently.

Beakwise is an equal opportunity employer. If you meet most of the requirements and you are excited about the role, apply anyway.
