Definition

What this product is, plainly

Beakwise is a software company whose platform, Beaksurance, provides a white-label group life and occupational pension administration portal. It adds employer, member, and administrator portals on top of an insurer's existing core systems (policy administration, fund administration, and payroll) without replacing them. Insurers, pension companies, banks and bancassurance providers, third-party administrators, benefit administrators, brokers, and large employers use it to digitise group life cover, occupational pensions, and workplace savings across the full lifecycle: onboarding, enrolment, contributions, reconciliation, beneficiaries, statements, claims, and servicing. The platform runs as a portal layer rather than a system of record, supports English, Turkish, French, Russian, and Arabic with right-to-left rendering for Arabic, plus additional languages on request, and deploys as SaaS, private cloud, sovereign cloud, or on premises.

Beakwise is the company; Beaksurance is the platform the portals run on.

The challenge

Group benefits are still administered through spreadsheets, email and fragmented legacy systems

Group life, pension and workplace-savings administration often runs on manual files and disconnected tools. That creates cost, risk and a poor experience for employers and members alike.

Manual employer files

Employers send census files, payroll changes and joiner/leaver data by email and spreadsheet, with little validation.

No member self-service

Employees lack transparent self-service for cover, beneficiaries, contributions and statements.

High servicing cost

Insurers and administrators carry high servicing cost and operational risk from re-keying and reconciliation.

Recurring reform workloads

Pension and workplace-savings reforms create recurring monthly operational workloads that manual processes cannot absorb.

Generic HR tools fall short

Generic HR systems do not understand insurance, pension and contribution rules.

Legacy core gaps

Legacy core systems rarely provide modern employer or member digital experiences.

Transcript

Scene 1: An employer signs in to the Beaksurance Employer Portal and uploads a monthly payroll file. The platform validates contributions against the scheme rules, flags exceptions and reconciles totals against the expected amount. Scene 2: A member opens the Beaksurance Member Portal, reviews their group life cover and contribution history, updates a beneficiary nomination and downloads a statement. Scene 3: An administrator reviews the maker-checker queue, approves a high-value change and the audit log records the approval. Throughout, the carrier's core, fund administration and payroll systems remain in place; the portal layer never replaces them.

Why the Beaksurance platform

Why generic HR and legacy insurance systems struggle with group benefits

A fair comparison of where each option fits, including the build-in-house alternative an executive is weighing alongside vendors, and where group-benefits administration needs a purpose-built layer.

Employer group onboarding

Generic HR / payroll tools
Onboards the employer entity but lacks insurance scheme structures: no FCL, no match ladders, no anniversary re-rating.
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Scheme-aware but back-office-only: corporate KYC, signatory verification, scheme setup and census load handled in batch with re-keying.
Build in-house or core modernisation
Custom employer onboarding can be built, but corporate KYC, signatory binding and a scheme-template library are 6 to 12 months of bespoke work per book.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform provides native employer onboarding with corporate KYC, signatory binding and a scheme-template library.

Payroll contribution & premium reconciliation

Generic HR / payroll tools
Not designed for premium/contribution reconciliation
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Often batch-oriented and rigid
Build in-house or core modernisation
Payroll ingestion and contribution reconciliation can be built on the core, at the cost of duplicating logic that already lives in a portal layer.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform ingests payroll files with structured validation and reconciles contributions and premiums on a configurable cycle.

Beneficiary & coverage changes

Generic HR / payroll tools
Limited insurance-specific handling
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Often back-office only
Build in-house or core modernisation
Member-facing beneficiary self-service can be added to the core, but is rarely a priority on the modernisation roadmap.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform offers member and admin self-service for beneficiary nominations with maker-checker controls and jurisdiction-aware rules.

Fund / account visibility

Generic HR / payroll tools
Not supported: no fund prices, no unit holdings, no transaction history.
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Back-office views; members see fund balance via paper or PDF statement on quarterly or annual cycle.
Build in-house or core modernisation
Daily fund and account visibility for savings members typically requires a separate, custom-built member portal.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform renders member-facing daily fund and account visibility for savings schemes with transaction history and fund-factsheet links.

Broker & consultant servicing

Generic HR / payroll tools
Not a core use case
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Often limited intermediary access
Build in-house or core modernisation
Broker access tends to remain spreadsheet-based without significant additional development.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform gives brokers and consultants dedicated portal access with employer dashboards and service-case workflows.

Multi-language member communication

Generic HR / payroll tools
Varies
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Often single-language
Build in-house or core modernisation
Multi-language support with right-to-left rendering is a separate workstream rather than an out-of-the-box capability.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform supports multi-language operation with RTL (Arabic) and SMS / WhatsApp / IVR push for low-digital-literacy member populations.

Audit & compliance evidence

Generic HR / payroll tools
Limited insurance-grade audit: no member-month grain, no maker-checker on insurance-specific events.
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Varies by system; many lack column-level lineage or configurable maker-checker thresholds.
Build in-house or core modernisation
Member-month-grain audit and column-level lineage are achievable, but rarely without a dedicated audit and lineage build.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform records every contribution movement and beneficiary change at member-month grain with immutable audit logs, configurable maker-checker thresholds and column-level lineage.

API integration with core, payroll, fund & payment systems

Generic HR / payroll tools
Limited insurance integrations
Legacy insurance / pension systems
Often costly to integrate
Build in-house or core modernisation
API and connector work is owned by the in-house team and adds to the run-rate.
Beaksurance approach
The Beaksurance platform integrates via REST and webhooks, SOAP, ISO 20022 and AS2 or SFTP file ingestion, with named connectors for payroll, HRIS, core insurance, fund administration and payment providers.

When Beaksurance is not the right fit

Generic HR / payroll tools
You only need lightweight HR or payroll plumbing for non-insurance benefits.
Legacy insurance / pension systems
You need a brand-new policy administration system as the system of record, not a portal layer on top of one.
Build in-house or core modernisation
You have a funded, multi-year in-house build with the right group-benefits expertise on the team.
Beaksurance approach
Beaksurance is not the right fit when there is no portal or reconciliation gap to close, or when the customer wants to own the entire administration stack in-house.
Markets

Designed for regulatory-trigger markets

Across emerging and reform-driven markets, pension, provident fund, workplace savings and end-of-service benefit reforms create new recurring administration workloads. The Beaksurance platform is designed to localise employer, member and administrator workflows for those market-specific requirements.

Türkiye

For auto-enrolment and supplementary pension regimes such as BES (Bireysel Emeklilik Sistemi) and OKS (Otomatik Katılım Sistemi): contributor onboarding with national-ID verification, fund selection from regulator-approved fund universes, monthly state-contribution claim files and reconciliation, transfers between pension companies, and regulator reporting hooks. For OKS-style payroll-deduction schemes: employer-side administration covers the deduction percentage, employee opt-out window, vesting clock per member, and bank-distribution channel hooks.

GCC

For Gulf jurisdictions, configurable EOSB gratuity engines per market: jurisdictional formulas (for example UAE Labour Law 21/30-day on basic salary, Saudi gratuity on basic + housing with social-security coordination, Qatar three-week minimum, Bahrain stepped formula, Kuwait, Oman). Supports funded workplace-savings frameworks such as DIFC DEWS and ADGM, the UAE Voluntary Alternative EOSB Scheme with regulator-approved risk profiles including Sharia options, and legacy unfunded-to-funded conversion with opening-balance migration. Sharia-compliant fund universes (AAOIFI-screened), Wakala / Mudaraba fee transparency, purification, and Sharia Supervisory Board reporting. Member portal in Arabic and English (additional languages on request) with SMS, WhatsApp and IVR notifications.

Middle East

Beyond the Gulf bloc, focused administration for the broader Middle East. Coordination with state social-security pension programmes and complementary employer-sponsored life and savings schemes; supplementary employer end-of-service indemnity tracking; support for state pension reforms and emerging private pension fund frameworks with in-country residency. Arabic and English member portals (additional languages on request) with SMS, WhatsApp and IVR. Employer payroll integration with jurisdiction-aware deduction rules, statutory contribution ceilings, and vesting where applicable.

Africa

Implementation-ready architecture for group risk, umbrella funds and retirement administration, with member transparency and contribution / withdrawal workflows.

Southeast Asia

For Southeast Asian retirement and provident-fund regimes, for example Malaysia PRS, Singapore CPF top-up, Indonesia BPJS Ketenagakerjaan supplementary schemes and Thai PVD: administration covers default and core fund splits, employer voluntary contributions, member tax-relief reporting, employer-trustee workflows, and Takaful-compatible fund universes where applicable. Payroll deduction is the primary contribution channel; member statements localised per jurisdiction.

North Africa

Designed to support group life, private insurance funds and corporate benefits, with Arabic/French operations and digital insurance distribution.

Latin America

Implementation-ready architecture for group life, voluntary retirement and employer benefits, with payroll-linked administration and intermediary/broker-led distribution.

The Beaksurance platform does not claim licensing or statutory compliance in any specific market. Market-specific configuration packs and implementation validation determine final regulatory alignment.

Right-to-left support

Scope

What we do not do

A portal and administration layer is a different lane than rating, reserving and the policy system of record. Knowing what is out of scope speeds the discovery conversation.

  • We do not price or rate the risk; we administer and apply the rates your insurer or actuary sets.
  • We do not perform actuarial valuation, reserving, or IFRS 17 measurement.
  • We do not hold the policy system of record; the carrier's policy administration system remains authoritative for policy data.
  • We do not perform reinsurance or coinsurance pricing or settlements.
  • We do not replace the core; this is a portal and administration layer that sits on top.
  • We do not hold an insurance, pensions or fund-management licence; market-specific licensing remains the customer's responsibility.

Deployment options

SaaS Private cloud Sovereign cloud On-premises / hybrid where required

Typical first portal release: 4 to 20 weeks for a single-employer pilot; full multi-scheme production rollout in 6 to 9 months. Final timelines and scope validated during discovery.

Commercial model

Indicative commercial model and a de-risked first release

A budget-accountable buyer needs a directional cost signal and a credible first-release path before committing to a procurement cycle.

Indicative pricing

  • A platform fee, sized to the carrier or administrator footprint.
  • Per-scheme or per-member-per-month, depending on which lever fits the book.
  • "From" pricing on request, scoped at discovery; binding pricing in the commercial proposal.
  • No multi-year lock-in for the pilot release; production rollout commits the term.

Final pricing depends on scheme count, member count, deployment model, and the integration scope agreed at discovery.

De-risked first release

  • One employer group, one product line, one country, taken end to end.
  • 4 to 20 weeks from kick-off to controlled go-live.
  • Clear acceptance criteria agreed in week one: enrolment, contribution reconciliation, beneficiary update, and a statement run.
  • Defined exit ramp at the end of the pilot if the criteria are not met.

Production rollout follows on commercial terms agreed at the pilot acceptance gate.
